Some highly unusual rough, presented as it came from the mines. This will challenge you, but has the definite potential to yield some incredible gems.
It is from TANZANIA and presents colors and dichroism at it's extreme. The C axis is very dark, but is a exoitic well of fine greens and blue greens. The AB axis is generally a wonderful rose peach - some more red, some more peach.
With careful orientation gems may be cut which are a sort of watermelon tourmaline in many cases. Always some unusual and exoitc flash should be seen. It is unlikely that i will be able to replace this rough, and certainly not at these prices. This is one of those parcels where i have pulled out several pieces to cut myself (I always take the hard ones, so be glad :)
Most of this is fairly large for tourmaline... but yield will not be high due to the need for careful orientation and the fact that this is direct out of the mine.
It should all give eye clean or better gems ... Lots of surface waste, but the interiors look quite good.

I had more problems than normal even taking decent photos of this rough. Most all shots are backlite, though the AB axis is not too dark. It was impossible to properly capture the rose peach color of the AB axis. The last piece (tordim7) shows this color best, though it is a bit weak in that piece.
Try to keep all this in mind as you look.

This gem was cut from the worse piece of rough in the lot. The C is very dark olivish green, there were numerous tiny inclusions within though I did not even see them before cutting. These pix do emphasize the peach - they were very brightly lit and carefully angled to catch the gold/peach at maximum (the true color is off some). In reality there are just some peach flashes, and a nice lot of light green facet flashes in appearance.
